Love Deep Dish Pizza? Well so do I! Investing in the proper pizza tools will make your pizza turn out all the better.
Ingredients:
Dough
1 1/3 C lukewarm water
1/4 c powdered milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon of powdered sugar
vegetable oil (2 measured tablespoons for dough)
1 package of dry yeast
4 c flour
1 stick of butter
Pizza
Your favorite sauce and toppings
Directions:
In a large bowl place yeast, sugar, salt, and dry milk. Add water and mix for five minutes then let stand for two minutes. Once mixture has rested add in the two tablespoon of oil then add flour and mix till dough has formed. Knead dough for 10-15 minutes, if the dough is not elastic enough keep adding flour until you reach a nice flexible dough that is not sticky.
This dough should yield about two large pizzas so you will need to form two separate dough balls. You can use both or freeze one for later.
With a rolling pin roll out the dough large enough for the inside of the pan. You will want to take the butter and coat the inside of the pan. I like to melt a stick of butter and take a brush and paint the pan with it. The butter is going to add that amazing deep dish buttery flavor that we all know and love.
Do not use all the butter on the pan!
Take the remaining butter and coat your dough once you put it in the pan.
Allow it to rise for 2 hours.
Pre-heat your oven to 500ºF
Bake for 10 minutes.
Top your pizza with your favorite sauce and toppings. Do not go over an inch with your toppings and remember to top the ingredients correctly on the pizza.
Bake until the cheese is bubbling or crust is golden brown.
