This fun pizza is super delicious and great for those looking for some flavors that will really draw out the taste of banana peppers. This pizza makes for a great game day pizza... it's a total touchdown!
This pizza is great on thin crust pizza or a nice whole wheat crust. I also used a low fat 'south beach' friendly pizza sauce for this recipe that you can not even tell is low-fat, so SHHH!!
Ingredients:
Prepared crust
thin sliced pepperoni (I like a lot so I use about 30 slices)
sliced red onion
1/2 lbs hamburger meat
1 jar of banana peppers
2 c of Mozzarella cheese
Handful of cornmeal
Pre-heat oven & pizza stone to 500ºF. Take the crust of your choice with bottom lightly covered in cornmeal, I used a thin crust for this recipe, and lightly spoon pizza sauce on crust. You do not want to over-power the pizza with a lot of sauce. This recipe with all the ingredients and the right crust will be moist enough. Take 1/3 of the pepperoni and place it over the sauce.
This pizza does not follow the normal topping procedure in my article on how to top your pizza so don't freak!
Evenly sprinkle cheese over pizza and then place remaining pizza toppings on top of the cheese.
Bake for about 10 minutes or until cheese is bubbling and pepperoni becomes slightly crisp.
Let the pizza rest for a minute and cut into thin slices.
