In recent news, Youtube has been scrutinized specifically by its own Youtube stars for the new strategy they implemented which changed Youtube’s algorithm, according to a BBC online article. Youtube’s algorithm before involved people who want to subscribe to a channel will get their daily feed every time they go onto Youtube that shows those who they’re subscribed to and their videos. However in recent changes to the algorithm, it is now based on watch time. Just because a Youtuber before has had many views, it did not necessarily mean that they had a lot of watch time on their videos from their subscribers. Youtube has changed its ways on how to provide a user friendly feed by creating a new way of putting videos Youtube believes based on data, viewers will want to watch more. The Youtube stars that have seen many people view their videos have noticed a big fluctuation where their views have gone down significantly because Youtube has not been putting their videos in front of their subscribers as they used to all due to watch time.
What does this mean for you as a pizza restaurant owner, commercial business owner, or other restaurant owner? If you are doing your own marketing to reach prospective clients, you may find that this is a lot more useful. The reason being is because it is now not up to who people are subscribed to but rather how valuable the content is and if people are sticking around to watch your videos long enough.
This pushes the challenge of creating valuable, useful videos, but now it is fair game as well in the Youtube world. If you have not had any of your videos showcasing your products or services garnishing much views, this new algorithm behavior may be something to take advantage of. It is also a more cost effective way of marketing your pizza equipment, refrigeration equipment, pizza tools, ovens, pizza recipes, and all things pizza and restaurant related.
Do you have a Youtube channel that has faced issues before in trying to get views? Do you believe Youtube’s new algorithm will be beneficial for you and your pizza restaurant, or company?
