For many of Trump’s supporters, the fact that the wall to separate America and Mexico is being built, many are celebrating in Trump’s promise to protect America from illegal immigrants just passing through the borders and taking jobs from Americans. I am aware that there are Trump supporters who have different reasons as to why they think building the wall is a positive thing and there are supporters of Trump who don’t agree with Everything. However, the biggest concerns that I believe we should address and keep in mind is when we think of the jobs that are being ‘taken’ away from Americans, there are many jobs that Americans choose to not take on at all. For instance, how many warehouses where people are breaking down boxes, stocking, organizing, or putting together equipment that many immigrants who have not become official American citizens have taken on? As an American myself, I seek other positions that as long as they don’t include me being in a warehouse and/or me being out in the field doing some agricultural work. It is not because I feel it is beneath me, not at all, but rather any labor intensive job that truly is a difficult position, I am avoiding. I would rather work with my mind and be in a more ‘comfortable’ position such as an office of some kind.
Besides the workplace, how many immigrants do you see also working behind the kitchen in pizzerias, pizza restaurants, or other kinds of restaurants who are not official American citizens yet? As a restaurant owner or possibly a company that employs different immigrants, how will this affect your business of operations? Will your production go down? With people who have not been documented and be sent back to Mexico until proper documentation has been filed/processed, will you lose a lot of employees?
There is the ethics of going through the process of becoming an official American citizen and being able to share in the benefits of an American citizen which I do believe should be followed. However, is there another way we can go about this? If you’d like to see photos of the Wall, please click Here.
