The makers of a new batch of frozen pizzas to hit stores in England & Wales claim that their pizzas are healthier than store-bought salads. Quite a claim to make, but they are sticking to it!
The company, Eat Balanced, worked with Professor Mike Lean, chair of human nutrition at Glasgow University, to create the healthy pizzas. Professor Lean recently told the European Congress on Obesity in Liverpool, "This is the only nutritionally-balanced ready meal anywhere...Nobody has previously designed a meal which has got everything in the right proportions. I’m pretty proud of it"
The pizzas contain 47 essential nutrients, with vitamin-rich ingredients such as ground seaweed and red pepper. According to the company, a healthy diet could be maintained by eating three of the pizzas every day.
With America's fight on obesity, I can only hope that this company, or one like it, brings it's products to American soil soon. With the influx of fatty foods and larger portions, America can really learn from their pals across the pond on this one!
