For many who have grown up with the ooey gooey goodness of pizza, topped with pepperoni, heaps of dairy cheese, and that sweet or sour marinara, it is a childhood favorite to possibly change for health or just health conscious reasons. For some who venture into vegan possibilities, there have been some who find the transition to vegan very difficult. A perfect example, for just trying it out kind of effort, Alyssa, writer who wrote an article comparing Vegan pizza to her memorable times with dairy cheese topped pizza, shares her encounter with vegan pizza. Let’s just say that it was not really a pleasant experience although she thought in the beginning of her journey there could be a possibility that she would enjoy vegan pizza.
Based on Alyssa’s story, her first time ordering a vegan pizza was off to a great start until about 2-3 slices in, she started really noticing the texture difference in the vegan cheese. Compared to regular dairy cheese where it has that amazing string texture when pulled apart, the vegan cheese once chewing and in the mouth just getting chewed down, becomes slimy. If you are a texture person, vegan cheese may not be for you.
Of course, this is just one person’s experience, others I’m sure found the experience a lot better than enjoying the dairy cheese topped pizza. Also, for vegan pizza, non-dairy cheese is definitely optional, you can always enjoy a vegan pizza without the cheese substitute.
What about you? Have you ever eaten vegan pizza? What was your experience like? Comment your response below. Would love to know.
