CALIFORNIA SPLITTING UP INTO 3 GOVERNMENTS?!
In recent news, thanks to ABC’s online article highlighting this somewhat new proposal, the proposal to split California into 3 has again resurfaced. According to the article, office of Secretary of State of California, Alex Padilla, will certify the initiative as qualified for the November ballot on June 28th. With more than 402,468 valid signatures as of this past Tuesday- signatures from across the counties of California, allowed for this proposal to be granted a place in the November 6th general election ballot. As mentioned before, this ‘new’ proposal was also brought about in the years 2012 and 2014 by Tim Draper who currently leads it yet again, but failed to make it to the election ballot due to election officials discrediting many of the signatures that were collected. This year will be a year where drastic change happens and votes will matter.
What does this mean for local businesses, schools, and tax payers? According to Draper, it will actually be a great benefit to have 3 separate governments, education will supposedly be better, and that taxes would be lower. Do you agree? There are others who say that this would actually cause more harm than good.
Where do you stand on this proposal? How will your business get affected, your day to day life, and even your friends/families/co-workers?
